A Private Investment House
Tengri Capital is a privately held investment office. We commit our own capital to a small number of enduring interests, and we measure outcomes in decades rather than quarters.
The House
Tengri Capital invests and holds on behalf of its principals alone. We do not manage outside money, we do not market funds, and we are under no obligation to deploy capital on anyone's schedule but our own.
That structure shapes everything we do. Freed from the cadence of fundraising cycles, we can hold through dislocation, build slowly where others must exit, and decline opportunities that are merely good. Our name is drawn from Tengri, the eternal sky of the Mongolian steppe — a reminder that the horizon is long and the weather is temporary.
From London, the house maintains interests across developed and frontier markets, with a particular depth of relationships in Central Asia.
Principles
We buy what we are prepared to hold indefinitely. Time in a position is our principal advantage, and we refuse to surrender it cheaply.
Our affairs, and those of the people we work with, are conducted quietly. We publish little and promise less.
Every position is held with principal capital. We bear the consequences of our own judgment in full, which keeps that judgment honest.
We treat the businesses, assets, and relationships in our care as things to be left stronger than we found them.
The sky does not hurry, and yet nothing under it is left unfinished.A steppe proverb, loosely kept
Relationships
Tengri Capital serves as investment advisor to the Mongolia Fund, an international private equity vehicle dedicated exclusively to Mongolian opportunities. The mandate reflects two decades of relationships in the region and the house's conviction that Mongolia remains one of the most under-analyzed markets in the world.
